United States National Archives, Washington DC, keep quite a lot of records concerning the former Danish West Indies. These records make up "Record Group 55, Records of the Government of the Virgin Islands, Danish West Indies, 1672-1917", which consists of c.400 running metres. A revised catalogue has been made in 2001 when Record Group 55 was reorganised. The catalogue contains a comprehensive table of contents at the beginning and an alphabetical index at the end. At present, United States National Archives are micro filming the most important parts of the record group. Copies of some of the films are available in the Danish National Archives in Copenhagen.
